Welcome to my blog! Here's a little about me...

Hello!  I just wanted to take this time and introduce myself to anyone reading this...

I'm a 22-year old graduate of the University of Maryland-College Park (GO TERPS!) and while there I was the Assistant Sports Director at the campus radio station, WMUC.  The time I spent at WMUC was amazing, as I was able to be a play-by-play announcer for numerous ACC Football, Basketball and Baseball games.  Play-by-play announcing is what I've wanted to do for many years now, and the excellent journalism program at Maryland was the main reason why I attended the university.  If you are at all interested, you can listen to my play-by-play demos at my "official" website: www.ScottSudikoff.com.

So, you can guess that sports have been a huge part of my life.  At school I was able to travel all over the country with the different athletic teams.  I can now say that I have been to Cedar Falls, Iowa and Spokane, Washington as well as many other colleges like Coastal Carolina, Clemson, Virginia, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Boston College, Miami and Georgia Tech in order to sit in a press box and call the action live on the radio.  Over the summer I was an announcer for the Worcester Tornadoes Baseball Club in Worcester, Mass.  Currently I am on the look-out for my next on-air job.

I have lived in New England my entire life, and have been a Boston sports fan the entire time.  Without a doubt my biggest allegiance lies with the Boston Celtics.  My family has had season tickets since the day I was born, and I have bled Celtic green for 22 years.  Of course winning the 2008 NBA Championship was quite a feeling, but I've had other great moments as a Celtics fan and plenty of bad moments.  Through the thick and thing I have stuck with this team, including the drafting of Chauncey Billups and Ron Mercer instead of Tim Duncan.  It has all been worth it.  I've had the privilege of being at the then-FleetCenter for Game 1 of the 2002 Playoffs against Philadelphia where they marched all of the all-time greats onto the court with everyone in the crowd waving a rally towel, the current team on the jumbotron getting ready to come to the floor; and I can admit that I got a little choked up.

Other moments, good or bad, include being in the stands for the Game 4 loss to the Nets during the 2002 East Finals (the game after that amazing comeback).  I'll also never forget when Paul Pierce went off against the Pacers during Game 4 of the 2003 1st Round Playoffs.  Finally this past year I had the honor to be at Game 5 of the East Finals vs. Detroit and Game 2 of the NBA Finals vs. the Lakers.  I usually don't miss a game whether I am there live or watching it on TV, unless I have a really good excuse.  So, I am definitely looking forward to the 2008-'09 season, as I will be at the Garden on October 28th to see the 17th banner raised to the rafters.

Now, here's a little video to get you excited for the upcoming season.  It's a new NBATV commercial featuring KG:

Now, as you can see, the Celtics are at the top of my list, but I am also a big Boston Bruins fan, and of course I can't forget about the Red Sox and Patriots.  I like to give the Celtics and Bruins the most of my attention because they usually take a backseat to the Sox and Pats.

I'm also a huge Maryland Terrapin football and basketball fan.  Unfortunately during my four years at school, the teams were not that good overall (two bowl games in four years and only one NCAA berth in four years).  The four years prior to my arrival saw the football team win an ACC Title and have three 10-win seasons, while the basketball team was National Champions in 2002 and hadn't missed the NCAA Tourney since 1992.  Currently my football Terps are 4-2 and 1-1 in the ACC and are very inconsistent with big wins over California and Clemson but even bigger losses to Middle Tennessee and Virginia.  Hopefully they take care of business at home this week against Wake Forest.

Well, that is all for now.  From here on out I will try to make each post specific to one team/topic.

  3. Check out my Celtics blog.  You should find it interesting since you are a life long Celtics fan.  It is comparing the Celtics to Michael Jordan.
