Lamar Odom

13 December 2011

Dwight Howard can't seem to decipher his own feelings about the Magic. Lamar Odom, as collateral from the Paul fall-out, whined his way to the Mavs, who were spurned earlier in the week by Tyson Chandler (Knicks). Chauncey Billups took his frequent flier miles to the Clips (though he could be dealt again by the time I finish this sentence) and Big Baby was swapped for Brandon Bass.

Wednesday marked the day in which the NBA Champions and 6thman, Lamar Odom resumed contact, according to the Los Angeles Times. This comes a week after the Los Angeles Lakers pulled their or

I like it.).

If Kobe's Lakers are going to utilize home-court advantage and take this 2-2 series, Lamar Odom's going to have to step it up, dawg. You can't just score 7.5 points a game against Denver. They aren't the Clippers. Also, learn to box out. CHRIS ANDERSON SHOULDN'T HAVE MORE UPS THAN YOU. As someone who watched last night's humiliation, I can safely say the only thing more embarrassing to watch than Anderson jamming home the tip-in on a missed shot was his lamer version of TO's eagle routine, shouting a "wooooot" bird call to Denver's lame bird-loving fans as he ran backcourt. That, to me, was the epitomy of the bench differential. Denver's reserves are whooping Los Angeles'. Where's the depth? James Posey was a HUGE reason the Celtics won it all last year. At least their bench showed up.

w Bynum, putting together a sub-par effort with 10 points and just 3 rebounds, took more shots than Lamar Odom, Trevor Ariza, Sasha, and Jordan Farmar. On any given night, I expect each of those players to take more shots than Bynum. That's partly Kobe's fault. He needs to be looking to pass. The Houston Rockets are going to be tough and physical this entire series. They're going to expect Kobe to come at them, knowing this, and they'll double-team him. If Kobe doesn't pass the ball, or even look to pass, LA's in trouble.

ustrating the hell out of you (in other words, suffocating).   Pau Gasol and (shockingly) Lamar Odom were largely non-factors in this series, and they were put in their place (outside the paint) by the long arms and active defense of Kevin Garnett.  Mind you this Lakers team shredded San Antonio in the Conference Finals, which makes Garnett’s effort all the more impressive.  For all of those reasons and several others, KG was far and away more valuable than Kobe, and when you consider how much KG dominated on defense and on the glass, impacted this series positively far more than Kobe Bryant ever did in this year’s Finals.

ull his head out of his own ass long enough to properly coach a game and KG can stop doing his best Lamar Odom impression and step up like we all know he can and should.  The Celtics are clearly the better team, they just couldn't quite get it done yesterday.

ent in themselves and continue to believe that the ball will actually be passed to them?  Will Lamar Odom be able to remember that he is a pro-basketball player and make a tough decision to pass, shoot or drive before the shot clock runs out?  I could easily see the Lakers coming back and winning game five after a blowout loss where they were embarrassed, but after a loss like this, I'm not so sure.

Advantage: Paul Pierce

Power Forward ( Lamar Odom vs. Kevin Garnet) The Lakers need Odom to step up this series if they want to win the championship. When Odom plays well, its almost a given that the Lakers will win. I’m pretty sure he will not be guarding Kevin Garnet. Garnet has been waiting to get this deep in the playoffs and have an opportunity to play for a ring forever. The Big Ticket has finally flown to his destination. No matter who is guarding Garnet, I expect to see someone I have never seen before. I know Garnet will be playing the hardest we have ever seen him play. I am looking forward to it.

The Lakers, who are bringing in Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom are also built to that 1987 running team of Magic Johnson, James Worthy and Kareem Abdul-Jabaar. This 2008 NBA Finals looks

ldquo;a little chippy out there”.

Drink again if they flashback to earlier in the year when Lamar Odom flat out tackled Ray Allen.

Get angry when you see a kid 10 years old or younger at any game. It should be you in that seat not some spoiled brat who doesn’t even realize where he or she is… then drink.

This NBA Finals will be the most watched Finals in a couple years. I myself have not watched any in quite a few years since the Spurs and Pistons were so frequently in them. No offense to them but they are just not exciting teams to watch. I would much rather watch Kobe light up the Celts great D for 50 points or the Big Three of Boston. Tim Duncan is just not an exciting player to watch. Not only are the teams fun to watch but each of the matchups are interesting:

ame plan.  If Gasol gets into foul trouble, the Celtics will be able to focus more on Kobe and Lamar Odom (a big if considering that Gasol is a superstar Laker, which means no whistle no matter what).  Also, forcing Gasol to defend hard every game will wear him down on offense over the course of the series, and could work in the Celtics' favor.

s case Mitch Kupchak, who was responsible for building the Lakers' supporting cast of Derek Fisher, Lamar Odom, Sasha Vujacic and Vladimir Radmanovic, and Chris Wallace, who was responsible for gift wrapping Pau Gasol for Los Angeles (seriously, Pau for Kwame Brown, there should be an investigation into that robbery).

of banging around inside and making a big impact for the Lakers interior defense.  Similarly, Lamar Odom, despite being a great rebounder who is long and quick, does not make a great impact on defense and definitely doesn't have the mindset to play lockdown defense (he doesn't really have the mindset to be anything resembling what he's paid to be).
