Do they call CB Ty Law or S John Lynch? Should they shift James Sanders to strong safety or promote Brandon Merriweather? Or maybe they turn a corner into a safety, like Mike Richardson? It worked well for a while with Eugene Wilson.

To make room for them, WR Chad Jackson and S John Lynch were released.

I thought Jackson was in the clear since he wasn't cut Saturday. He picked up his play in the last two games of the preseason, catching a touchdown in each game. But the mistakes were too much. He apparently ran the wrong route adjustment in game one of the preseason and tripped over his feet on a endzone fade route in game four. Both errors resulted in interceptions. The coaches had enough.

it? When you're talking about a team that gave another chance to the likes of LB Junior Seau and S John Lynch, it sounds like a move New England would do. Hell, they're allegedly still talking to CB Ty Law about a possible return. Why not Colvin too?

For now.

Even though I'm not down with the move, the Patriots believe safety John Lynch can come in and be productive in the ways they plan on using him.

This signing is far from a surprise. Head coach Bill Belichick trusts veteran players. When Lynch was shown the door by Tampa Bay in 2004, Belichick wanted him but lost Lynch's services to the Denver Broncos. But the second time around, coach Bill got his man.

ggested by Ed O'Leary that the Patriots should look into signing the recently released safety John Lynch now that S Tank Williams is done for the year. Well the Patriots are doing their homework on Lynch and brought him in to Foxborough for a closer look. Good call, Ed.
