NBA Championship Preview

I may be an over-the-top, totally subjective fan, but I know where to draw the line. Yes, I am always totally optimistic when it comes to my favorite teams, but when I sit down and think clearly about the broad outlook of things, I can do it objectively, and I hope I got the subjective and objective terms right and used them correctly.

Anyway, with that being said, I would like to dish out my take on how the Finals will be won. Without trying to create any drama or mystery of my picks, I'll tell you them right now for free. I have the Lakers winning over the Cavs. Why? Because of the feeling that nobody in the West will be able to overtake the Lakers stacked roster this season, especially if they trade Lamar Odom for something useful, and I have been saying all season that if the Cavs and LeBron are seriously going to contend for a title, it will be this year or bust. Next year there will be too much hoopla surrounding LeBron's impending free agency decisions and I believe that will cause some unnecessary stress on the team as a whole. They have the team to do it this year, and they are tied with the Lakers for the NBA's best winning percentage.

And speaking of the Lakers, I think that they are going to go under the radar a little bit with the defending champs recent struggles and the focus that is going to be on LeBron and the Cavs. Just yesterday they had a chance to set a Laker record with their 16th straight home win, and I didn't even know about it until I read the preview for the game. I also think Kobe and Phil have a sour taste in their mouth after last year and will be totally focused to win the crown. I'm not much of an Andrew Bynum supporter as most people are, but I do think he will provide them with something that they didn't have last year, that lacking toughness inside.

So, apologies to the Celtics, but I don't think that they will be able to pull it off again this year. They came out firing to start the season, but the only thing that matters is playoff time, and they needed to go through how many game 7's to get to the championship round last year? Will I still be rooting for KG and the boys to pull it off? Of course I will. I would love for nothing more than a repeat. But I can still look at the league as a whole and make good, objective decisions.
