Doc Rivers announced today that KG would need another four games off. Saying his knee isn't any worse, but that it is not any better, is the reason behind Doc's decision to sit him. Hopefully this sounds scarier than it really is. Our bench has been holding the C's together so far, but can they hold up throughout the playoffs, nobody knows. If this ends up being just four days we should be fine, however the rumors are he's out for the rest of the year. If that's the case, we're in some trouble. Let's see what's next to come! Boston Celtic's (56-19) who are still tied with Orlando for the 2 seed play the Charlotte Bobcats (33-40) tonight. They're hot and just beat LA last night and have won 4/5, so this should be a good test of how the team can keep performing without KG! 7:30 at the TD Banknorth Garden.

2 overtimes, 2 point win, 2 seed, 2 sweet. What a game!  The Celtics had to battle hard last night to win this one and not let history repeat itself by having the Bobcats beat LA and then us in back to back games.  That has not happened in 12 years, and that did not happen last night!

It took 2 hard overtimes and even with the C's having 25 turnovers, and with Orlando having already lost to Toronto, it was the C's time to take back the 2 seed, and we did! Charlotte took 101 field goals but nothing was bigger than Ray Allen's (whose number, by the way, has a 2 in it) three pointer with 2 seconds left in the 2nd overtime and giving the Celts the win by 2! Rondo and House played a great game, Pierce did his thing as always, scoring 30, Ray was awesome, and Perk, Baby, and Moore played huge having 7 blocks. When the D steps up it's how the Celts are able to make big comebacks as they did tonight being down 15 at one time.

The 2009 Playoffs are fast approaching, and now is the time to get your tickets.  The tickets go on sale today for Round 1 of the playoffs for the Boston Celtics. We do not know who we are playing yet, but does it matter? Last year the C's first round was crazy. Everyone, including me, thought the C's would sweep the Atlanta Hawks or that maybe it would go 5, but they took us to game 7.  What a series that was!  So what's going to happen this year? I know that I can't wait to see...  Tickets for home games 1 and 2 will go on sale today, April 3, at 10 a.m.  You can purchase seats by logging onto Celtics.com, by calling 1-800-4NBA-TIX (1800-462-2849), or by going the the Garden Box Office.  You are only allowed to buy 4 tickets per person and they are&nbs

The Celtic's defense showed up huge against the Atlanta Hawks who the C's have beat 3 times this year, but only by a total of 10 points; two of those games the C's won by only 1 point which gives Atlanta the feeling that they can beat the C's especially after last year's 1st round (taking the Celts to 7). But after last night's win, 104-92, having 10 blocks, the C's were sending a message: "get it out of our house".

This big win helps the Celtics maintain the East's second best record, especially with Orlando blowing out Cleveland, and also shows the Atlanta Hawks how good the Celts can be even without Mr. Kevin Garnett. Pierce, Ray Ray, and Rondo were solid as usual with Pierce scoring 21 with 6 rebounds and 5 assists, and Rondo scoring 20 with 6 assists and 2 steals, nice!! Meanwhile Perkins dominated the glass with 10 rebounds and 7 blocks as well as Big Baby doing his thing again with 19 points, a steal, and a crazy block, amazing! (The kid gets better with every start.) Then the Celts' bench did what they needed to do, and it was great to see Tony Allen back out there.

The Boston Celtics got their 59th win of the season, and Rondo was the man! Rondo scored 31 points (33 is his career high), 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and had 3 steals-- amazing! The bench stepped up huge again outscoring the NJ bench, 33-9, with House leading the charge with 15 and Marbury being the back-up point guard. (He did the kind of job that the C's need come playoff time.)  Pierce and Ray Ray did their thing, holding the team together with great help from the big guys like Perkins. Big Baby, and Moore.  The Celts shot 51% and led the fast breaks by winning that battle 15-7, but the Nets battled tough like everyone who plays us does...and even though we led by more than 10 at times in this game, it still came down to the last shot which Carter took and missed giving the Celts

Pierce v Wade, Friday night at the Garden. This will be like a heavyweight fight as both teams have something to prove since the C's could be playing the Heat in the second round of the playoffs. As a result, I'm expecting tonight's game to have playoff game atmosphere. Meanwhile, we have news from the bench: Powe has been practicing and should be a gametime decision for Monday; same for Scalabrenie. No word on when KG is coming back -- he's practicing easy, Hopefully he's ready for the playoffs; we want another run like last year. OK, one game at a time...right now it's the Miami Heat that's looking strong but if Rondo, Allen, Perkins, and Big Baby all support the Pierce v Wade Show and help out on D and let him be the Truth on offense, then we will win. This is one to watch.  7:30!

The Boston Celtics swept their five game home stand last night. The C's battled the Miami Heat in what was a playoff game atmosphere, and the Celtics won their 5th game in a row giving the C's 60 wins in the season with 3 games left to go. Dwayne Wade (NBA's leading scorer) gave us all he had scoring 31, but it wasn't enough to beat us; the C's hung on and win 105-98.

Rondo, Pierce, and Allen did their thing holding the C's together scoring 56 points combined, and Big Baby had another great night scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. They are the trio that has held together the C's since KG has been out. And that begs the obvious question in the backs of all BC fans, "is KG going to be healthy for the playoffs?"

We've just gotten word that Mr. Garnett has been practicing and that he will miss Sunday's game versus Cleveland, but he should be ready to go on Tuesday versus playoff-bound Philadelphia. That is what the Celtics' nation wants to hear and could be the difference in the C's going far in the playoffs or being knocked out early. Also Marbury looked like himself last night hitting his jumpers. He and Eddie House work great together giving our bench the spark it will need with a little help from T. Allen, Moore, and Walker. Also Powe and Scal should be back at the beginning of next week, and I feel confident that if the Celtics are healthy, we can repeat, if not, it's going to be tough. Exactly a week to go til the playoffs and what might be a preview of what is to come. We play Cleveland on Sunday and it should be exciting since they have only lost one home game all year. Lets go Celts!

The Celtics stay home for Easter and don't show against Cleveland in a massacre 107-76. Cleveland showed up like this was the championship game while the Celts were simply not there. Ray Ray couldn't hit his jumper, and Pierce only scored 14, but the major problem was that we couldn't play defense. Cleveland, on the other hand, played phenomenal defense at a high-paced level.

Lebron James was unstoppable on the offensive end and the defensive end scoring 29 and helping Cleveland in this game leading by 30 in the 1st half and still...the Celts don't show? I believe that the C's big men couldn't defend this fast Cleveland offense; this is why we need KG and Powe out their hitting the boards. But will they make the difference?? We will see, the Cs play Phili on Tuesday and Washington on Wednesday, and the playoffs begin after that.  KG and Powe and a fully healthy team should be playing in that Washington game so that should see a better preview of what the C's are capable of in the playoffs; so let's count yesterday's loss as a team holiday. Keep up the love, Celts' Nation, and hopefully it's our year again. Yesterday's gone, as they say.

Yesterday the Boston Celtics released news that Kevin Garnett will not play on Wednesday, the Celtics' last regular season game.  Last week they had announced that he was doing better and would be ready to go in the last game, but now they say no, and when asked if it's just for rest or because his knee has been getting worse, Doc said it's a combination of the two. This should be of great concern to all of Celts' nation; it sounds like the situation with the Lakers' A. Bynum last year which proved to make a difference.  So I know Pierce, Ray Ray, Rondo, Perkins, and a great bench can get us deep in the playoffs, and Doc's great, but if the Celts are not fully healthy, I do not know if we can do what we did last year.  The Celtics play tonight against the

Eddie House sank 5 three pointers in the 4th quarter to turn a deficit in last night's game into a C's lead and then a 115-107 Celts win.  House also took the best three point shooting percentage in C's history away from Mr. Danny Ainge, amazing!! Last night's game was also amazing with Leon Powe receiving the 6th Man of the Year Award (very deserving in my opinion, as he averages 7.5 pnts 4.8 reb .5 ass .5 blks and then scored 18 points with 13 rebounds in last night's game.

Big Baby scored a team high 20 points and this is all with Pierce, Ray, Rondo, and KG resting up for the playoffs. Even with C. Butler of the Wizards scoring a season high 39 points, the Celts' bench left them matching their worst record ever 19-63, and the Celts finished with another great record of 61-20 heading into the playoffs.

Yesterday was a sad day for the Boston Celtics and Celtic Nation. We found out that Kevin Garnett could be out for the whole entire playoffs and then, our main man, Danny Ainge, the Celtics' GM and the person responsible for getting KG and Ray Ray to Boston, had a mild heart attack. The good news is that Mr. Ainge is supposed to be fine and make a full recovery -- my blessings go out to him and his family. Meanwhile Doc made a comment yesterday morning that Garnett would likely not be available at all in the postseason that begins Saturday.

"Yes, he's out," Rivers told The Boston Globe. "I feel [he's out] for the season, but we just don't know yet." So with all this bad news, all my family (MIT, Matty, G, Rach, Ro, B, JR, Dato, Bobafet, Jon, KC, Neil, and even Murray) now believe that the Celts cannot repeat if we are not healthy, but I am going to keep on listening to my mother Doris on this one "If you believe enough in something, anything is possible." I also think that if Pierce, Ray Allen, and Rondo are on point and Perkins and Baby step it up and the bench does what they are capable of, the Celts can beat anyone. I think the Celts can handle the Bulls without KG no problem. Just to let my boy Jay know, because he thinks the Bulls got us no problem, I had to laugh and say, see you this Saturday 12:30 at the Garden!!! Lets go Celts and let's get passed this downer of a day. The C's rule either way!!!!!! Hank Hill here, bleeding green.

Hello Celtics fans, it's game day! Everyone get ready for a 12:30 start, and let's support our Celts with as much love as possible. Especially after the horrible couple of days we have had. But now it's time to put that behind us and win!!! The Celtics are favored by 8.5 and the over/under is 196; hope Vegas is right -- they usually are!! Anyway after that bad news the other day we found out Danny Ainge is making a good recovery and with Doc knowing KG is a no go, he has a plan. Doc said we are going with Big Baby to start and made it sound as if he is going to use the bench a lot. I believe if the Celts just take this game by game they can beat anyone (even scary Cleveland)! Especially if Big Baby Davis or, as he calls himself, "Ticket Stub," (

A lot can be said about yesterday's game against the Bulls.  D. Rose and the Bulls showed up in our house, and they played like the defending champs while the Cs fought from behind all game. The Celts were off from the tip off; Ray Allen was 1-12 shooting in a game where the Cs really needed him to step up. Rondo played an amazing offensive game scoring 29 points but, as my boy, the Professor, who went to the game said, not even Rondo or the bench could contain D. Rose. He was on fire and scored 36 points (a career high) and 11 assists and led the Bulls to the overtime win 105-103 over the defending champs.

Even with Rose playing the game of his life and Gordon hitting his threes, the Celtics still had this win in their hands at the end of regulation when the Cs were down by 1 with 12 seconds, and we got the ball into Captain Paul "the Truth" Pierce's hands, he drives, steps back for the last shot, and gets fouled by Noah.

Okay, everyone knows by now what happened last game and that's over and done with. The Cs' loss is all everyone's talking about and frankly, we're acting like this series is already over. Well, I say it's a new day. The Celts tasted losing and you know they don't want to feel that again, so I believe that the loss was a major eye-opener as well as a major motivator and now see how badly every team wants to beat the defending champs!!

Celts Nation, we need our players to come out with that determination in all their eyes and bring the energy we as fans know the Cs have, and C'Nation needs to support all the way, so rock your green today!!! Remember last year every series went 7 (except the finals) so, as my homegirl Ro said, "It's not really even started yet so what are you so worried about?" She is right. If the Cs play some Defense they will be fine. My guess is that Pierce is going to put on a show next game.  After that free throw the other day, The Truth will have something to prove, he always does, and that's why he's the Man, either way cause you always know you get 120% from him, and Pierce wants to win as much as we do!!! So if Pierce steps up, it will bring the team together, and if Rondo and Big Baby keep up what they're doing, and Ray Ray can  We come to life, it will energize the bench and we'll see the team that we know are the world champions! So get ready -- Game Tonight is at 7:30 pm at the Garden. Let's go Boston!

Ray Ray had ice in his veins last night and hit game winner putting the Cs right back in it!! This was a game the Celts needed to have not only to tie the series, but to get the momentum and our confidence back. Ray Allen scored only two points in the first half, and I thought it was going to be a replay of the last game, but he came out on fire in the second half. It was just what the Doc ordered especially with Ben Gordon scoring 42 points, but that wasn't enough. Ray scored 28 points in the second half but none bigger than the last shot of the game, with the game tied at 115 each the Cs had the ball with 12 seconds left and a chance for the last shot of the game. So Doc drew up a play for Ray Ray, and Rondo got him the ball with 2 seconds and Ray buried a 3 for the game winner and the Cs tied the series with this win 118-115!!

So we have a tied series with game 3 tonight in Chicago where the Bulls have a home record of 28-13 this year and the Cs lost to them 127-121 in our only visit to their house this season. While that may not bode well for tonight's game, I think there were extenuating circumstances we need to consider: it was St. Patty's Day and the Bulls(wanting to be us) wore the Celts' green. I believe that messed with our heads. It was not cool.

Also, in that loss, Doc Rivers was ejected, and he said it was the worst Tech he ever got and the referees were horrible during that game!! Just so you know, we won both meetings during the regular season at our house, and you saw how much that really meant, so hopefully the refs will be fine and fair tonight because the Cs are looking to take back their home court advantage. This is the playoffs -- a whole new beast!!

The Boston Celtics came out last night in a sea of red like they were at the Garden, and they played like Celtics' Nation is used to. Up by 22 at the half, the Chicago Bulls' fans booed their team as they walked to the locker room --something that Cs' Nation would never do (and that's what makes us a Nation, by the way).

Cs defense showed up big time holding Gordon and Rose 3-15 in total in the first half and holding the Bulls to 37 points in total. Pierce was on fire scoring 18 (7-9) points in the first half; he came out with determination in his eyes telling us that the Truth was about to be told. Finishing the half with great energy on the floor, we saw  Rondo score 16 points and snatch 8 rebounds, keeping up the pace that Cs' Nation is now used to.

When it comes to sports in Boston, we're title-town! The Boston Celtics' last game was exactly what Boston was waiting for and hopefully, the C's can put down the back-breaker on Sunday at 1:00!!! I firmly believe it's going to be the last nail in the Bulls' coffin, even though the Cs would still have to come home and win one more and then head to the second round. Time will tell if we'll be playing Orlando (2 seed)...they're down 2-1 against Philly.

Usually I only talk about the Cs, but when you live in title-town, even the most ardent basketball fan pays attention to the "other" sports. First, we have the mighty Bruins who are not only the number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs and the Bs just swept our biggest rivals, the Montreal Canadians, and they looked amazing doing it!!! So now the Bs wait to see who wins the Rangers vs Washington series which the Rangers lead 3-2. I think we not only can beat who ever wins that series, but I think the Bs have a great chance at the cup, and that would be sweeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!

Well, we'll find out today at 1:00 pm (on Channel 5 in Boston if you're watching it on the tube) whether or not the C's can put the hammer down!!!  I believe if the Celtics can take this game, they take the series. A 3-1 lead is hard for anyone to come back from, plus the Bulls have to come to Bean Town and nobody outside of Title-town wants that! It's definitely not over yet, even though Vegas made the call that the Celtics are supposed to lose by 3. Wow. I didn't see that spread coming after the massive beat down the Cs gave them last game. Having one day off and one day of practice hopefully helped the Celts, and if they get the same start like they did at the beginning of last game, I believe the red sea will be departing early again. If the "Truth" Pa

"We'll come back to Chicago, the pizza's good." - Doc Rivers

Yesterday's game was absolutely insane, it wasn't the blow out or back breaker Celtics nation had been hoping and praying for!  With KG and Powe out its been a lot of overtime play for 3 three Big guys and the Celtics still had quite a few chances to pull off the win in this game.  To agree with my colleague; Mr. Denizen of Titletown (hell yeah! Title-town) Big Baby left a lot to be desired in Game 4.  Nearly all of us here in Bean-town had a heart attack watching this game.

Bearing in mind we were playing in Chi Town, 28--13 at home you know, (regular season).  From the first second of the game I was sweating bullets, I couldn't sit down.  Celtics up by one (19 - 18) in the first quarter was too close for my comfort.  Celtics defense needs to step it back up to the level of game three.  Again, mentioning our missing big men on the court, Baby and Perkins have to carry the load of four players.  Perkins stepped it up today, scoring 15 points, and scowling his way to 9 rebounds and 3 blocks.  Big baby's performance was pretty drab today not living up to his previous record.  However, his attempt to get Miller ejected, was Oscar worthy, although not effective. (I say take it where you can get it. Great try). The Celtics held onto their one point lead coming out of the first half.  But the "Truth" be told, that lead should have been larger.  The C's just kept battling forward in this one playing almost mechanically in the third quarter to bring the lead up to five. The fourth quarter was full of ups and downs, rapid change of possession, and an average of 4.7 points scored per minute.

Okay, Lakers' fans and bloggers (particularly C Strickland), the Lakers and Kobe should be worried because even if you do make the Finals, which the entire city of Boston thinks is a big if, (Denver/Houston/Portland would all give you a run), Cleveland is not your only issue.

The Celtics are doing exactly what they did last year and as you say, even you saw the utter demolition of LA last year. It could happen again and by another team; that's why sports rule...because you never know. And I'm not saying the Cs are on top of their game yet, but this is all what happened last year and history does have a way of repeating itself. Last year everyone said we would sweep the Atlanta Hawks; they took us 7. Then they said the Cs would sweep Cleveland, took us 7. And when everyone said it would go 7 against Detroit and LA, it was only 6 for the Pistons and LA!!! So even with no KG (who everyone thinks we don't have a chance to see play -- but as we have seen, "everyone" isn't always right), it's pretty clear, in my mind at least, that Cleveland's not the only team to worry about. LA, you have a lot to worry about!!!

After another intense game and another overtime, I'm surprised we're all still standing.  Meanwhile, my boy MIT sat out the first half so he could watch American Idol, leaving me high and dry and laughing all the way to the vote. LOL!!!   The Professor, on the other hand, made a night of it, but said he "wouldn't go to the bar unless they have the Celtics game on."  Needless to say, they did. This is the kind of dedication that I expect from Celtics Nation and my Fams.  Not being able to sit down for the whole entire 2nd half, pacing back and forth, Paul Pierce took the game into his hands and made sure the "truth" was told by hitting a jumper with 3.2 seconds giving the Cs the lead by 2 and the big game 5 win. It really did seem

So the Cs are in Chicago where we know they like the pizza and where Pierce loves the sausages, as he said on his Twitter page. Now it's game time and the Cs want to stop this crazy battle where we have witnessed 3 overtimes in 5 games. It's been another playoff level like Bird/Jordan and while all of that's been exciting, C-Nation would love to end it tonight!!! So get out of the restaurants and onto victory! Last game Perk and Baby were huge, and Pierce, Rondo, and Ray Ray are on the next level and know how to win and come back when we're down. So let's do what we did in game 3 and put the Bulls out to pasture. Let's see that fire in their eyes (even if it's from the pizza and sausage); game tonight 7:00; Let's go, Celts!
