The roar that the garden made when Kevin Garnett came out dressed and ready to go for tonight's game sent chills throughout Boston. This was an intense game, and you could see the fire that KG brings onto the court and what the C's have been missing for the last 15 games (losing 4-6 in that time). He played only 14 minutes, but scored 10 points and 4 rebounds and the intensity of the defense was back. The Celtics blocked 6 shots last night which led to a score on our end each time in this really close game. The rest of the team looked on top of it's game with Rondo making great passes and great D, Big Perk with 5 blocks, Allen scoring 19 points, and Pierce holding them all together with a big 12 rebounds and 9 points. And a great assist at the end of the game to Glen "Big Baby" Davis for a huge jumper which led to the win with a little help from Tony Parker missing 4 free throws at the end of the game.
The big factor was that our defense played like they haven't played in months, holding the Spurs to 77 points. If the C's have their D, we will go a long way! Having KG back and beating the Spurs with the final of 80-77 is a hopeful sign that we can go on a run that will walk the green right to the finals again!!! As my boy, M.I.T. would say, "one day at a time!" (He's always right.)
Well then, for our next games, the C's fly from S.A to Memphis who are last in their division at 17-5. If we bring the defense that we did tonight, this shouldn't be much of a battle; same goes for the L.A. Clippers 17-52 who the C's play at home on Monday. After Monday, the Celtics will have to put all their concentration and determination on the Orlando Magic who are biting at our heels for the number 2 spot, so this should be another game where you just have to stand to watch because it's too intense to sit down (and this one's in Orlando). Stay Tuned!!!
