A Pu-Pu Platter of Coming Attractions

No NBA yesterday, instead I had to settle for March Madness, boo hoo.  It was a great game, and despite the loss I still think that Derrick Rose is the best player in college right now and should be the no. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NBA draft.  He's incredibly athletic, has a great sense of the game, a high basketball IQ and most importantly is, by all accounts, an excellent leader and teammate.  Michael "Beastly" is incredible as well, I just think Rose's ability to make his teammates better and his upside are tremendous.  Also, Chris Douglas Roberts and Mario Chalmers were amazing, to put it mildly.

In other news, I was attempting to write an enlightening post that went more in depth into the potential Boston/Cleveland Playoff match-up using lots of comparative statistics (still awake? anyone? Bueller?), but Mozilla freaked out on me and I lost all my work.  Yay.  So, the moral of the story is, I'm doing everything in Word from now on.  How sad is that?  I'm choosing to trust my valuable insights and work with a Microsoft product over you, Mozilla (take that!).  That's also why I didn't post anything yesterday.  By the way, I am so sorry to have left you, my vast and still growing audience (What are there now, five of you, six, seven even?  Maybe to greedy?  Let's stick with five) in such anticipation of my next nugget of wisdom for so long.

Because of the lack of NBA from yesterday, alas you'll all (still reading? I'm impressed!) have to wait a bit longer.  What I will say is that I'm looking forward to tonights Lakers/Blazers game tonight.  I know, I know, the Celtics are playing tonight, but their opponent is the Bucks.  That's more of a technicality, I think the local open run at the Y might be better than tonight's game (who knows, Greg Oden might even show up!).  From the look of things, Doc is going to rest Allen, Pierce and Garnett again tonight, and the BUcks are the Bucks.  Yawn.

What I am look forward to tonight is the Lakers coming to Portland to take on the Blazers.  I don't like the Lakers very much (no, really?), but I enjoy watching them play, particularly the growth and continuing integration of their nucleus of Kobe, Gasol, and Lamar Odom.  Their bench and supporting cast is also solid and one of the deepest units in the league (plus, it's always fun to hear the broadcasters struggle to say "Vujacic" properly).

This game also has a good deal more meaning, not to mention exciting players, than Boston's contest will.  The Lakers are still jockeying for position in the air-tight Western Conference playoffs, while Portland is trying to meet their own personal goal of finishing their season with a winning record.  It doesn't count for much, but if the Blazers played in the East, they'd be tied for seventh with Toronto and in the Playoffs at this point.  The game should be a good tune up for LA, and perhaps a nice measuring stick game for the Blazers against an elite team in the West.  The bottom line is that it'll be on TV (no chance on the C's) and I've got enough time to watch it (technically, it's work related.  Does that mean the IRS will let me write off a six pack and a bag of chips?).

I'm planning on revisiting the statistical analysis (zzzzz...wake up!) of Cleveland and Boston's potential match up as it draws closer.  I'd also like to write a bit about the NBA's draft policies and minimum age requirement (spoiler alert!  I think preventing kids from making money is bad), but that one is going to take some time and thought.  In the mean time, check out this site, it's a lot of rap/hip hop songs represented in graphs.  It's hilarious, I swear.
